What are the signs that you may be looking at a scam?
Beware!
Here is a story of one I felt worth following up:
I once received a video link by e-mail and decided to watch it. The e-mail came completely out of the blue and I did not recognize the sender.
You see the host drive up to this very expensive home in a Lamborghini.
It went on for about 45 minutes during which time the host demonstrated his ‘special code’ which would generate over $1,000 per hour just by pressing 5 keys on your computer.
He repeated many times that the code was absolutely free.
When I tried to get it, it was in fact $96. I decided that this was too much for something I knew nothing about so clicked on the close button to close the page down.
The page wouldn’t close but instead our host came back saying “all right then just this once I’ll let you have it for $49”.
I bought it!!
The next thing was an up charge of $250 to go to the next stage. I did not proceed but did find out that there was a further charge to get more training and this was more than $5,000.
What can we learn from this experience?
- Be suspicious of soliciting e-mails from unknown sources – basic stuff eh?
- Videos that show expensive homes and cars are suspect.
- Anything that is being offered absolutely free probably isn’t.
- If they do not offer an e-mail address for support probably means there is no support.
